On December 5, 2024, AMM and the Foundation for mRNA Medicines hosted a forum at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Center: “Don’t Blame the Messenger(RNA): Combatting the Threat of Misinformation.” The event educated policymakers and the public about the promise of mRNA to improve human health and the threat that mis- and dis-information poses to scientific advancement in this field.
The forum addressed the history of mRNA development and the promising research harnessing mRNA to develop vaccines and therapeutics, the global nature of threats to advancements in mRNA posed by misinformation, including a Japan case study presented by Meiji, and efforts the mRNA community can take to lay the groundwork for a collaborative education campaign.
A special thank you to our speakers: Kati Kariko, Jeff Coller, Denis Wirtz, Deborah Barbara, Roberta Duncan, Masaya Tamae, Tom Inglesby, John Cooke, Walter Straus, and Kate Broderick.
